CHIEVO director Giovanni Sartori has dismissed the rumours linking his side with Liverno keeper Marco Amelia.
The Italian Under-21 international has played just one full season of professional football but has already attracted the attention of clubs such as Milan, Lazio and Real Madrid.
Reports in the Italian press suggested that Chievo had offered é¼7 million for the player but Sartori has denied the rumours.
"We were never in proper talks for Amelia's signature," he said. "We rate him as a very good keeper but his price is way too high.
"What appeared in the papers was not true at all."
After the departure of Marco Ambrosio to Chelsea, Chievo have yet to announce who will be the number one keeper at the club next season.
"If Cristiano Lupatelli (pictured) stays, we will put our trust in him again" added Sartori.
"Anyway, he is 50% owned by us and Roma, so we don't know what his future is yet."
The club director also admitted that he would have talks with a number of players about their futures but insisted that it will take time to finalise all the details.
"The squad have returned from Japan this afternoon," he continued. "Next week we will talk to Eugenio Corini about his desire to extend his contract.
"As for the rumours about the departures of Simone Perrotta and Nicola Le Grottaglie, I have to make it clear that their situation remains the same for now."
