The 24-year-old played with Middlesbrough on loan last season but Steve McClaren failed to meet Real's asking price to sign him permanently, which led to Chelsea in the driving seat to sign him.
Bankrolled by Russian billionaire Roman Abramovich, The Blues have agreed to meet Real's asking price of around é¼10 million (£7 million) for the African.
Santiago Bernabeu chief Jorge Valdano says that the fee has been agreed upon, and the Spanish champions are now just waiting for a bank guarantee before the player can finalise his move to Stamford Bridge.
Geremi is currently on holiday back in Cameroon but has been contacted by Real and has given the thumbs up on a move to West London.
Although the player will still have to agree personal terms with Chelsea, money seems to be no obstacle due to their new found wealth, and he should soon join Claudio Ranieri's squad.

Geremi found himself out of the picture in the Spanish capital, and the arrival of another midfielder in David Beckham was the final sign that his future was away from Real.
Chelsea can offer him Champions League football and he may not be the last arrival at Stamford Bridge with Abramovich busy looking for star-studded new additions to his squad.
