The Argentine public are still reeling from Argentina's dismal World Cup showing last year.
However, Veron is not happy with the barracking he, his team-mates and coach Marcelo Bielsa receive.
"I don't play for Argentina just because of the stubbornness of the coach to call me up," Veron told Radio La Red.
"My team-mates and I still have a lot to do, we love wearing the colours.
"What happens in Japan still hurts, but we are doing our best, that's why the reactions bother us."
Veron scored in Argentina's 3-2 win over Uruguay in Italy, but still some fans were being critical.
"I could understand if the insults were in an important match, but not in a friendly," he continued.
"It would be better if people could forget names and see Argentina on the pitch."
