The Argentinian striker completed his move from Internazionale and immediately targeted success with the West London outfit.
After playing alongside Veron with Parma and Lazio, as well as at international level, the classy striker is confident that Roman Abramovich's spending spree will reap dividends.
"We played not only together at Parma and the national side," he told Chelsea TV. "We had a lot of chances to win things with the teams we were at and we hope to do things at Chelsea together.
"It's very important for me (to come to Chelsea) because it's a great sporting chance for me, and a great social chance with a great group of players.
"I know Mario Stanic, he was at Parma with me, and I played against (Marcel) Desailly. I also know all the other players but I've never played against them.
"I've come here to win things, not just to participate. We will do everything we can to win things.
"I am very happy to be at Chelsea."
Crespo added that he sees himself as the most attacking forward in a front two, but he is also willing to play the supporting role if required.
