Traore has been the subject of a firm approach from PSG, but Vahid Halilhodzic has admitted that the defender's financial demands are putting the brakes on any deal being concluded.
"Traore, I asked for him on loan," explained Halilhodzic. "But his salary is huge.
"Afterwards (following the loan), there is the possibility for a transfer, but it is rather expensive and, especially, we cannot match his salary.
"The player does not want to lower it by a penny."
Financial restrictions are certainly affecting the Bosnian boss's transfer plans, with Boudewijn Zenden also deemed too pricey.
"Zenden receives a huge salary at Chelsea," he added. "Even if he accepts lowering it by 50 percent, it would again be huge for us.
"Since the start, on the economic level, PSG cannot get our first choice reinforcements, not even the second ones.
"I would have loved Steve Marlet or Giovane Elber. We are looking for good players but cheaper."
Juan Pablo Sorin is another option for PSG, although the 27-year-old will surely also be expensive in terms of salary.
Meanwhile, Vignal has signed for Rennes on a year's loan, without the option of a permanent transfer.
The 22-year-old Liverpool defender had a medical on Friday.
