Barry is in the party for the European Championship qualifiers against Macedonia and Portugal and could set a new landmark.
If Barry is selected by coach David Platt for both fixtures, he will set a new caps record at England Under-21 level.
Liverpool stalwart Jamie Carragher currently holds the record with 26 caps but Barry could surpass that mark if he features against Macedonia and Portugal.
But Barry's prospects of attaining the new landmark hinge on his recovery from a groin injury picked up against Arsenal in midweek.
Under-21s coach Platt has included just one fresh face in his squad for the qualifying double-header in the guise of Manchester City midfielder Joey Barton.
Chris Kirkland is back in the Under-21s after his inclusion in the senior squad for the recent friendly against Croatia.
Grant (Derby), Kirkland (Liverpool), Evans (Swindon); Clarke (Everton), Dawson (Nottm Forest), Hibbert (Everton), Jagielka (Sheffield United), Konchesky (Charlton), Johnson (Chelsea); Wright-Phillips (Manchester City), Prutton (Southampton), Pennant (Leeds), Jenas (Newcastle), Barton (Manchester City), Barry (Aston Villa), Tonge (Sheffield United), Etherington (West Ham), Sidwell (Reading); Ameobi (Newcastle), Cole (Chelsea), Defoe (West Ham), Jeffers (Arsenal), Zamora (Tottenham).
