Bayer Leverkusen sport director Jurgen Kohler has confirmed that the Bundesliga outfit are still hopeful of bringing Chelsea striker Mikael Forssell to the BayArena.
Coach Klaus Augenthaler, who transformed last year's strugglers into title contenders, has reportedly told Kohler he needs a top striker for the coming season, and so the former German international defender has renewed his interest in the Finn.
Forssell is currently on loan with Birmingham City and has revelled in regular football, bagging seven goals in 12 league starts under manager Steve Bruce this term.
"We have enough players of good quality in the squad, but we still need a player with that little bit extra for next season," said Kohler.
"We are still watching him (Forssell) and will be looking to get talking to him soon."
Brazilian World Cup winning defender Lucio could still be the ace up Kohler's sleeve in the game of transfer poker.
Chelsea are reportedly interested in bringing him to Stamford Bridge with Bayer hoping to gain Forssell's services plus cash in exchange.
