The big-spending Stamford Bridge outfit have been linked with the likes of Deco and Costinha, although it now appears the pair will not be coming to West London.
Chelsea have raided Porto for right back Paulo Ferreira this summer, but Mourinho is happy with the core of stars he has inherited at his new club.
Mourinho visited The Blues' England quartet Frank Lampard, John Terry, Wayne Bridge and Joe Cole in Portugal and was happy with what he saw.
"When I met up with the four England players, I told them that I don't want to bring in four or five players from Porto with me because I think I can achieve what I want to do with them," explained Mourinho.
"I am very happy with the players that I have got here. I know that I will have in my hands a great group of players. And motivation is there to do very well."
Mourinho reserved special praise for England star Frank Lampard, who impressed in Euro 2004 after scoring against France, Croatia and Portugal.
The Portuguese tactician is delighted he has got his hands on a player who can protect the team's back line and regularly deliver goals at the other end of the pitch.
"Frank has been incredible, just incredible," said Mourinho. "He is a special player, with very special qualities.
"These types of players, who have something more to give, are the very best in the world.
"When you have a midfield player who can attack and defend and who can pass the ball as well you have a great player.
"But if you can also trust him to score a lot of goals as well, then that is incredible.
"I have met Frank for only 10 minutes, when I went to the England camp before Euro 2004 and spoke to him, and my other players, John Terry, Wayne Bridge and Joe Cole.
"In that short time the feeling I had was very good. I am really looking forward to working with him next season because I can help him become even better."
