Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho has backed the decision to sack Adrian Mutu.Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho has backed the club's decision to sack Adrian Mutu for failing a drugs test.
Mutu was booted out of Stamford Bridge on Friday after admitting he had taken a banned substance, after being target-tested by The Blues.
The decision has prompted fierce criticism from the chief executive of The Professional Footballers' Association, Gordon Taylor, who claims Chelsea have not helped the Romanian striker with his problem.
But Mourinho, who was reported to have had a strained relationship with the big-money signing, refused to be drawn on the issue.
The Portuguese tactician feels the club's statement on the sacking fully covers the matter as he opted not to divulge his views on Mutu's dismissal.
"It is very clear, the reasons why the club have decided this way," said Mourinho.
"I think the statement is absolutely clear. Any comments from me, or a player, or somebody in the board, is not important.
"It is a club statement, it is in perfect English. Step by step, it is very clear.
"I think some people can agree with it and some people can disagree. They have that right.
"The statement is so clear by the objective of the club and the reason why the club decided this way.
"I have no more comments after that."
