Robben inspires Chelsea

Arjen Robben has made a stunning impact in his debut Premiership season.

Arjen Robben has made a stunning impact in his debut Premiership season, with no player in England's top flight averaging more league points per game than the Dutch forward.

Prior to Robben making his belated Premiership debut, Chelsea found themselves five points adrift of Arsenal.

During those opening nine games, Jose Mourinho's men had found the net just eight times and failed to score in three of their games.

However, since the Holland international's introduction on October 23, The Blues have scored 35 goals in 13 league games, with Robben scoring five and creating a further six.

The cascade of goals past opposition goalkeepers has resulted Robben picking up 35 league points out of a possible 39 in a Blues shirt, averaging 2.69 points per game.

Alexei Smertin is narrowly behind his Dutch team-mate, with the Russia international putting his Euro 2004 disappointment behind him to become an integral part of Chelsea's squad.

In the 666 minutes that the midfielder has played this campaign in The Premiership, Chelsea have conceded just twice.

The most productive non-Chelsea player is Arsenal's Mathieu Flamini.

Despite only making three league starts this term, the French midfielder has taken 29 points out of a possible 33 from the games in which he has taken some part. Didier Drogba and Gael Clichy complete the quintet of Premiership players to have made 10 or more appearances this season and are yet to suffer a defeat.
