Chelsea have decided to let him leave as his contract was due to expire at the end of the season and he was unlikely to force his way into Jose Mourinho's first team plans.
Rocastle enjoyed a loan spell at Hibernian earlier this season before returning to Chelsea last month.
The 23-year-old could make his debut in Saturday's Yorkshire derby with Barnsley where he once enjoyed a loan spell.
