Chelsea's John Terry has revealed he needs a toe operation in the summer.Chelsea defender John Terry has revealed he needs a toe operation in the summer that is likely to rule him out of England's tour of the United States.
The Blues skipper has soldiered on in recent weeks, but is hoping to cure the problem come the season's end in a bid to hit the ground running next term.
England play two games across the Atlantic at the end of the season and Terry has spoken to coach Sven Goran Eriksson about his availability for the trip.
"I've already spoken to Mr Eriksson about that, I've got another operation in the summer," said Terry.
"I need to speak to the physios and stuff now so it might be a good time to get it done now.
"We'll have to wait and see. I want to finish the season and hopefully I can do that.
"Definitely straight after I'll have to go in for the op."
Despite Chelsea's exit at the hands of Liverpool in the UEFA Champions League semi-final, Terry believes it has still been a campaign to remember for the West London club.
The Stamford Bridge outfit landed the Premiership title last weekend - to add to their Carling Cup success - but missed out in Europe thanks to Luis Garcia's controversial strike.
"It's been a great season for Chelsea Football Club, there's obviously the disappointment tonight," explained Terry.
"It's not really acceptable. We've come here to win the game. I'm devastated."
Eidur Gudjohnsen, who missed a gilt-edged chance to salvage the tie at Anfield, believes once the dust has settled Chelsea can lift their spirits by lifting the Premiership trophy.
"It's always so disappointing coming so close, but I think as soon as we recover a bit we can look back on a successful season," said Gudjohnsen.
"Let's hope we can lift our spirit a little bit when we get the [Premiership] trophy in our hands."
