Atletico Madrid are considering moves for a number of English-based midfielders.Reports in Spain claim that Atletico Madrid are considering moves for a number of English-based midfielders.
AS claim that Los Rojiblancos, who have been on a pre-season tour of England, are looking to bring in one more midfielder to complete their new-look squad.
The Primera outfit have invested in a wealth of new talent this summer and also brought in Carlos Bianchi as manager.
They have already swooped on The Premiership to bring in Mateja Kezman and are now being tipped to try and bring the striker's former Stamford Bridge team-mate Tiago to the Spanish capital.
Tiago only joined The Blues from last summer from Benfica and enjoyed a solid first campaign in England as Chelsea clinched the title.
However, his future is the subject of speculation and he has been mooted as a makeweight in Chelsea's attempts to land Michael Essien.
Atletico may well now try and test Chelsea's resolve to hang on to the Portuguese star by submitting a firm offer for his services.
Another target is Aston Villa's Peruvian winger Nolberto Solano who has just one year left on his deal at Villa Park.
The player's agent revealed last week that he had held talks with a major Spanish club and it now appears that Atletico are the team in for him.
Although he will be available for nothing in 12 months' time, the Spaniards are being tipped to try and lure him from the Midlanders now with the 30-year-old thought to be keen on the idea of a move to Spain.
Middlesbrough's Gaizka Mendieta and Newcastle's Jermaine Jenas are other names thought to be in Atletico's orbit, but it seems unlikely that either would be allowed to leave their respective clubs.
