Beattie: Blues not unbeatable

Everton star James Beattie believes they have proved that Chelsea are not unbeatable.

Everton star James Beattie believes they have proved that Chelsea are not unbeatable.

Beattie helped end Chelsea's 100 percent start to the season by scoring in the 1-1 draw at Goodison Park on Sunday.

The former Southampton star believes that the way to beat Chelsea is to show no fear and attack them rather than sit back and try and defend against them.

"You've got to show no fear, and play and think about what you're doing rather than simply concentrating on stopping them," said Beattie.

"If you sit back off them they're so quick on the break and have so many ways of scoring it's frightening.

"I know we did that a bit in the second half when we were under pressure, but you can't back off them from the start.

"Duncan [Ferguson] and I are a pretty powerful pairing. Chelsea changed their team to cope with us and that says a lot in itself.

"But I think our whole team, in particular the defenders, were tremendous. Chelsea were piling on the pressure in the second half and we didn't really see the ball up front, but we held out.

"They were pushing and probing and we all know that they are a tremendous side. But I think this proves that any side on the day are not unbeatable.

"It was a great opportunity for us to put a stop to Chelsea's run and turn our own form around."
