John Obi Mikel should finally link up with his Chelsea team-mates on their tour of the USA after seeing red tape hold up his move to Stamford Bridge.
The Nigerian international joined the Premiership champions at the beginning of June to end a long transfer saga also involving Manchester United.
However, the 19-year-old is yet to link up with the rest of Jose Mourinho's squad as a combination of paperwork and busy representatives have stalled the switch.
Mikel's personal manager John Shittu has recently been tied up negotiating a new contract for Joseph Yobo at Everton, while the starlet has been forced to wait for his work permit and visa to come through.
With both now out of the way, Shittu expects Mikel to be able to link up with his new team-mates on their pre-season tour of USA.
"Two things have kept John Obi away from his new club all this while. And the first was the fact that I was heavily involved in negotiating Yobo's new contract, which as we know was only signed at the weekend," Shittu said in the Daily Express.
"Secondly, even though Obi's work permit came through last week, we needed to receive a copy because that is what we had to take to the High Commission to secure his visa.
"Because he is John Obi does not mean he can just walk up to the High Commission and be given a visa. He has to meet all the necessary requirements like any other applicant.
"John Obi has been given his visa and I expect him to leave for London very soon. He is travelling to the US next week."
