Chelsea midfielder John Obi Mikel is happy with how things are going at the club.
Chelsea midfielder John Obi Mikel is hoping to establish himself in Jose Mourinho's plans after making his first start for the club in midweek.
The Nigerian international impressed in Chelsea's UEFA Champions League victory over Levski Sofia and is hoping to keep his place in the side for this weekend's clash with Aston Villa.
Mikel finally sealed his move to Stamford Bridge in June after a protracted and controversial transfer and he admitted he found it difficult as Chelsea and Manchester United fought it out for his signature.
"This was really frustrating for me as a young player, but it was something I had to deal with," said Mikel.
"I had people around me, like my agent, to help me through a troubled time. Now I'm back on the pitch playing for Chelsea and this has always been my dream.
"I know my time is going to come, but there are a lot of world-class players at Chelsea and I respect them a lot.
"I was out for long time while my future was undecided and I knew I had to get my fitness back before I could start playing here. But the manager has been excellent and made sure I worked hard.
"The likes of Michael Ballack, Andriy Shevchenko, Frank Lampard and Didier Drogba are all great players. They're players I've been looking forward to playing with all my life. This is like a dream come true for me."
