Carlo Cudicini is making good progress, but will not be fit to face Barcelona.
Carlo Cudicini made a visit to Chelsea's training ground on Monday, less than 48 hours after being knocked unconscious at Reading, but he will not be fit to face Barcelona in the UEFA Champions League.
The Italian keeper was taken from the field on a stretcher following an accidental collision with Reading defender Ibrahima Sonko.
The Blues were deeply concerned by Cudicini's plight at the time of his accident, but he would appear to be on the road to recovery.
"I'm okay," Cudicini told Chelsea TV. "Just a little bit of a headache but apart from that, okay.
"I've had a lot of messages, from here, from Italy, and I use this occasion to thank everybody for concern about my situation."
Cudicini's appearance at Cobham had raised hope that he could be fit to face Barca, but the Italian has ruled himself out of Wednesday's clash with the Liga giants.
"It is a case of letting two or three days pass and then starting again my usual work," he added.
"I hope Saturday will be a good day for me (to return).
"For a couple of days I will do some tests and hopefully on Wednesday I will start to train."
With Cudicini and Petr Cech out of action, Hilario seems set to don the gloves for the visit of Barcelona.Cudicini has no recollection of the incident, as he added: "I just remember a sequence of corners and after that I remember being in the ambulance. But I think that is normal after a knock like that.
"I have been lucky to be fair, looking at what happened to Petr it is quite awful what happened to him."
