Chelsea captain ahead of schedule

Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho has hinted that John Terry could make an injury return ahead of schedule. Terry was expected to be absent for up to a month with the knee injury he sustained in Chelsea's pre-season training at the beginning of August. However, Mourinho has now revealed that his captain could be back in action for Chelsea's meeting with Liverpool on 19th August. Mourinho says Terry will not be ready for the Blues' next game with Reading, but the Stamford Bridge boss remains optimistic ahead of the trip to Anfield.

Back soon

"I don't think Terry will have a chance against Reading," Mourinho told Sky Sports News. "I think he has a little chance against Liverpool. "If not against Liverpool then against Portsmouth the week after. "He is working well and the medical department are trying everything and I think he can be back soon."
