Chelsea ban shocks Terry

John Terry has said that Fifa's decision to impose a transfer ban on Chelsea came as a 'big shock'.

Blues captain hesitant to speak out on Fifa ruling

John Terry admitted that Fifa's decision to impose a transfer ban on Chelsea came as a "big shock" to him. However, acting on the orders of his club, the England captain refused to give his own opinion on the subject. Fifa decided to prohibit Chelsea from registering any new players until January 2011 after reviewing the transfer of French winger Gael Kakuta from Lens. Football's governing body eventually concluded that Kakuta had, with the encouragement of Chelsea, breached his contract with the French team. But the Blues have stated they "will mount the strongest appeal possible", and have asked their players to remain silent for the moment. "What is my reaction to the Fifa ban? It was a big shock to me and it is very difficult," Terry said. "But it is difficult for me to talk about it. I have spoken to the club last night and again this morning and they have reiterated that I can't speak about it as they are appealing very strongly. "It is something I can't speak about today. They are appealing and it's ongoing from there. Until after the appeal has gone in, or another decision has been made, I can't say anything."
