The Crown Prosecution Service is to make a statement about John Terry on Wednesday afternoon after investigating his alleged racial slur towards Anton Ferdinand.
Metropolitan Police received an anonymous complaint by a member of the public following the West London derby at Loftus Road on 23rd October that Chelsea captain Terry had racially abused Queens Park Rangers defender Ferdinand.
Terry categorically denied the claims and vowed to clear his name, commenting: "I would never say such a thing, and I'm saddened that people would think so."
The Police assessed the allegations before passing a file to prosecutors earlier this month, while further evidence was received last week.
A Crown Prosecution Service (CPS) spokeswoman has now stated that a decision will be announced later on Wednesday, when Terry will discover whether he has been charged.
The Football Association is waiting until the police investigation is concluded before making further comment.
Luis Suarez was banned for eight matches on Tuesday after the FA found him guilty of racially abusing Manchester United's Patrice Evra.
