Chelsea skipper hails togetherness following Napoli comeback

Chelsea captain John Terry believes the thrilling comeback against Napoli to reach the UEFA Champions League quarter-finals was a perfect demonstration of the unity in the squad. Trailing 3-1 from the first leg in Italy, Chelsea took the return to extra-time before Branislav Ivanovic sent Stamford Bridge wild with the winner to secure a 4-1 victory. In between the two meetings with Napoli, the Premier League club had sacked manager Andre Villas-Boas amid claims the Portuguese had been the victim of player power. Terry insisted in the build-up to Wednesday's game that the senior members of the squad did not rule the roost after Roberto Di Matteo was placed in interim charge for the rest of the season. The centre-half believes the result against Napoli was one of the best in Chelsea's history and was firm of evidence of the team spirit at the club.

Desire

"This could top them all, for sure," said Terry. "It was really impressive watching the lads fight to the end. "We proved that we are a team. That desire and sticking together when it really mattered showed just what Chelsea are made of. "We called on it before the game and put in a great display. "We were really solid and resilient and had the firepower going forward. We fought to the end. "All we can do as players is stick together and win matches." Frank Lampard started the first leg of the tie on the bench following reports that he had fallen out with Villas-Boas prior to the former manager's departure. Restored for the second leg, Lampard's penalty took the game to extra-time and the midfielder hopes the result will be a key moment in Chelsea's season. Lampard said: "It's been a difficult season but this could change it for us. "We're just happy to be in the hat after being 3-1 down. If we play like that, we can take on anyone."
