Chelsea goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois will miss Saturday's Premier League trip to Everton, according to Sky sources.
And newspapers on Friday reported that the 23-year-old Belgium international could be out for up to two months after injuring a knee in training on Wednesday.
Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho is due to speak to the media at approximately midday on Friday and should have an update on the Courtois situation.
If the goalkeeper is on the sidelines for a prolonged period, Asmir Begovic is likely to get an extended stint in the first team.
The Bosnia-Herzegovina international joined from Stoke over the summer after Petr Cech was sold to Arsenal.
Begovic came off the bench during Chelsea's season-opening 2-2 draw with Swansea after Courtois was sent off and then deputised in the 3-0 defeat at Manchester City.
