Jurgen Klopp has brushed off claims that Daniel Sturridge wants to leave Liverpool in the summer.

Several English newspapers including the Daily Mail and Daily Mirror reported on Friday that Sturridge will seek a transfer because he is fed up with criticism over his fitness and desire to succeed.

The 26-year-old England striker returned to full training this week but will not be ready to take part against Sunderland on Saturday, instead likely to feature against West Ham in the FA Cup next Tuesday.

And Klopp said: "If anyone wants to ask me something they have heard about Daniel Sturridge, then he can ask me.

"But not suggestions, I am not interested in this. It is absolutely nothing. Daniel is back in training since two days, which is great, so everything looks good in this moment.

"He came in yesterday to train with Philippe Coutinho and Divock Origi, and when you see these players, you know what you miss (when they are injured).

"Daniel had problems in the past but this is past. It would be cool to leave it there. Every player needs consistent training to be fit for Premier League football. We have tried everything we could.

"The Daniel 'story'? There is no story. You can't create stories then ask me about them. It's not frustrating, it's not interesting."

Sturridge has started just three Premier League matches this season and has not played since December 6, managing only 106 minutes under Klopp who has consistently said he wants Sturridge to train for 10 to 12 days consecutively before he will consider him for selection.
