Manchester United and Liverpool have been fined by UEFA for "illicit chants" in their Europa League matches in March.

Both clubs have received £30,500 fines - half of which is suspended for two years - for the chants and have been given separate fines for a number of other offences.

United have been fined £13,750 for breaching safety regulations relating to "blocking stairways", "crowd disturbances" and "throwing of objects".

Liverpool must pay £13,000 for "setting off fireworks", "throwing of objects", "crowd disturbances" and for a late kick-off.

A statement by UEFA said: "In addition, Liverpool FC is ordered to contact Manchester United FC within 30 days for the settlement of the damages caused by its supporters."

Liverpool have also been charged by UEFA for several incidents during their Europa League final against Sevilla earlier this month.
