Sadio Mane is confident next season will be a 'special' one for Liverpool supporters after completing his transfer to Merseyside from Southampton.

Mane joined the Reds on Tuesday in a deal worth up to £36m, becoming the fifth player to trade Southampton for Liverpool in the last two years.

The 24-year-old is Liverpool's fourth recruit this summer, with Joel Matip, Serbian midfielder Marko Grujic and goalkeeper Loris Karius all joining the club ahead of next season.

"I want the fans to be confident," the Senegal international told LFC TV.

"I think this season will be special. Now I'm excited to meet all the guys and enjoy the season."

Senegal international Mane scored 21 Premier League goals in 67 games after signing for Southampton for £11.8m from Red Bull Salzburg two years ago.

But the forward admitted the lure of playing for Liverpool, and in particular manager Jurgen Klopp, was simply too tempting a proposition for him to resist.

"Liverpool were interested in me and I had some other opportunities but for me this is the right club, the right coach and the moment to change.

"When [Klopp] said wanted me to come and play for Liverpool I didn't even try to ask myself [anything]. I said: 'Yes I'm interested'.

"I was convinced Liverpool is the right club for me and he was the right coach as well."
