Liverpool have written to UEFA about the staging of their next Champions League game - away at Spartak Moscow on September 26.

UEFA have opened disciplinary proceedings against Spartak after one of their supporters appeared to fire a rocket flare at the referee in their Champions League game at Maribor on Wednesday night.

Liverpool will start selling their allocation of 1,145 tickets for the match to their supporters on Friday, although there are now concerns the game could be played behind closed doors.

UEFA have charged Spartak with setting off fireworks and throwing missiles during Wednesday's 1-1 draw in Slovenia.

The case is due to be heard by UEFA's Control, Ethics and Disciplinary Body on September 21 - just five days before the game against Liverpool.
