Schalke could break club records when offering a new contract to Leon Goretzka, with the German midfielder's contract set to expire in 2018. The club's vice-captain could be offered £8.8m (€10m) per year in an attempt to prevent him from joining the likes of Bayern Munich, Barcelona, Liverpool, or Arsenal on a free transfer. (Kicker)
RB Leipzig have inserted a £88m (€100m) release clause into the contract of central defender Dayot Upamecano who signed from their sister club, Red Bull Salzburg, for just £8.8m (€10m) this summer.
