Philippe Coutinho could be fit enough to face England next Tuesday as Brazil's medical staff look to help his recovery from a leg injury.

Gareth Southgate's England go up against world champions Germany at Wembley on Friday before hosting Brazil four days later.

The 25-year-old Coutinho has not featured for Liverpool since their 4-1 Premier League defeat against Tottenham Hotspur on October 22 after straining his abductor muscle.

Brazil's team doctor confirmed Coutinho had not recovered in time to face Japan in Friday's friendly, but there seems to be hope for any England fan wanting to see him in action in London.

"Coutinho has an adductor muscle injury in his left thigh," doctor Rodrigo Lasmar was quoted as saying by Globo Esportes.

"The chances that he will play against Japan are tiny. He could be on the bench and play a few minutes. But we are working to make him available against England."
