GOING FOR A SONG

LIVERPOOL defender, Rigobert Song, could be set for a move back to the continent during the summer - although injuries at Anfield may mean he reclaims his place in Gerard Houllier`s side this weekend.

The Cameroon international is wanted by Marseille and The Reds might decide to cash in on Song to the tune of £3.5 million.

Song cost Liverpool £2.7 million from Italian Serie B side Salernitana 15 months ago but was a star in Le Championnat for Metz.

However Marseille face competition from Paris St Germain for the services of the tough tackling defender. With Song`s departure the way would be clear for Bayern Munich`s Marcus Babbel to challenge Vegard Heggem for the right back position.

Norwegian international Heggem is thought to have re-injured his troublesome hamstring while on international duty this week - something which could jeopardise his chances of making his country`s national squad this summer.

Liverpool manager, Gerard Houllier denied all transfer rumours surrounding Song. He said: "I can tell you that Rigo is not for sale. We like him and he is a good personality to have at the club."
