Song, who has been only a sporadic presence for Liverpool since his £2.6 million move from Italian side Salernitana appearing only 31 times for The Reds in 18 months.
The former Metz star now looks set to return to Le Championnat in a bid to resurrect his career following the news that Babbel's arrival at the club will make the African surplus to requirements.
Song, who will be 24 on July 1st, has the slightly dubious honour of being the youngest players to ever be sent off in the finals of the World Cup, after receiving his marching orders against Brazil in 1994.
