NYARKO IN FOR TALKS - EXIT LATEST

EVERTON are expected to complete the signing of midfielder Alex Nyarko in the coming days after the Ghanaian international flew to Goodison Park for talks.

The Toffees and Lens have agreed a fee for the player - believed to be in the region of £4.5 million - and he now only has to agree terms with manager Walter Smith before completing the deal.

The player will be seen as a welcome addition to the squad following John Collins' move to Fulham and the expected departures of Nick Barmby and Don Hutchison.

Hutchison is in talks with Sunderland about a possible £2.5 million move while Barmby is expected to seal a £5 million transfer to Liverpool when he returns from holiday a week on Monday (24 July).

Meanwhile, Toffees striker, veteran Mark Hughes, has been linked with a move to Burnley, as the Division One club look to strengthen their strikeforce following the exit of Ian Wright earlier in the summer.

However, it is unlikely that Smith will allow Hughes to switch to The Clarets before he has fully replaced Barmby, Hutchison and Collins, meaning that The Clarets will have to turn their attentions elsewhere to find a new striker.
