The Toffees have confirmed that a package worth up £6 million will take the wantaway attacking midfielder to Anfield, as he gets his wish of a summer move to Gerard Houllier`s side.
Other Premiership clubs had been linked to the former Spurs and Middlesbrough man but he made his intentions clear, and Walter Smith has accepted that the player will have no part in his plans next term.
The developments show Houllier`s determination to land the 26-year-old, who had also been linked to Manchester United, Leeds and Chelsea, as his original offer, around a fortnight ago, was believed to be in the region of £3.5 million.
Barmby will link up with his new team-mates on a pre-season trip to Switzerland, and he will provide a great deal of competition for places in The Reds` line-up next season.
Houllier can now call upon a number of England internationals, such as Steven Gerrard, Emile Heskey, Michael Owen, Robbie Fowler, and Jamie Redknapp, as well as Barmby and those players could form the core of Kevin Keegan`s squad for the 2002 World Cup qualifiers.
