The 24-year-old Cameroonian captain has been forced out of the picture at Anfield and has been told he can leave Liverpool as long as they can get a figure close to the £2.7 million they paid for him in January 1999.
Song has experience of playing in Italy, having joined The Reds from Salernitana, but with Markus Babbel and Veggard Heggem ahead of him the idea of a loan move may interest him in a return to Serie A.
Having also played in France with Metz, Song has been linked to a move to Marseille, Paris St Germain and Bayer Leverkusen.
With the argument over Song's availability for the Cameroon Olympic squad fresh in manager Gerard Houllier's mind it would seem that Song's future at Anfield is far from settled.
