The Reds midfielder, 20, has been with The Railwaymen for the past month, but his deal expires after Saturday's encounter with Walsall and Gradi wants to keep Navarro at Alexandra.
"We have had a word with Liverpool about Alan," explained the Crewe coach.
"Liverpool say they need 24 hours to sort out what they are doing because they have a lot of games coming up."
The treble-winning Reds are likely to grant Navarro an extended spell at Crewe with the midfield not an area short of cover with Dietmar Hamann, Danny Murphy, Gary McAllister, Jamie Redknapp, Steven Gerrard, Nick Barmby and Igor Biscan all currently competing for a place in the starting line-up.
