BOLTON are hoping to rescue Liverpool defender Djimi Traore from his Anfield nightmare.
The Trotters have enquired about the 22-year-old and would like to bring him to The Reebok Stadium.
The former Laval ace has endured a frustrating time at Anfield with his lack of first team chances limited and is thought to be keen on a move away for regular first team football.
Traore spent all of last term with Lens on a temporary basis, and the versatile defender impressed at the league runners-up.
Liverpool are thought to be willing to let Traore leave as he is unlikely to break into the first team picture this season and he has been linked with a player-plus-cash swap for Blackburn Rovers winger Damien Duff.
Rovers are long-term admirers of Traore and reports have suggested that Liverpool are ready to use the Frenchman as bait to land top target Duff.
Bolton are looking to add one more signing to their squad for the new season and Traore is thought to be top of their wanted list, according to the player's agent Willie McKay.
"Bolton are very interested in Traore," McKay told Planetfootball.com.
"Traore was outstanding for Liverpool against Le Havre last week, but he is desperate to leave as he is unlikely to get many first team chances at Anfield this season.
"Sam Allardyce (Bolton boss) is looking to lower the age of his squad and he is very keen to reinforce his defence."
Bolton could face a fight to land Traore as Bordeaux are keen to bring him back to France on loan.
"Bordeaux are looking to bring him back to France on a season-long loan and they have been in touch with Liverpool, who have told them he is available," added McKay.
"If David Sommeil leaves Bordeaux they see Traore as the ideal replacement."
