LIVERPOOL made enquiries about Hasan Sas in the summer according to his agent and may be back in for the Turkish World Cup star next year.
Sas was one of the revelations of the World Cup, starting his campaign with a wonderful performance against eventual winners Brazil and picked up many admirers.
Sas's agent Hakan Azman told planetfootball that many clubs expressed interest in the player over the summer, but many decided to wait until the player's contract expired next May.
"It is an unusual situation," Azman told planetfootball. "Normally I would not have any trouble selling a player such as Hasan Sas.
"His brilliant World Cup meant that many clubs became admirers, but when they saw that his contract expired in the summer they decided to wait.
"Liverpool did make enquiries into the player, but did not make a realistic offer at the time."
Liverpool did recruit heavily after the World Cup, bringing in Senegalese duo El Hadji Diouf and Salif Diao as well as Bruno Cheyrou.
Although the wealth of strikers at the club may make Sas more of a luxury recruit than a necessity, the Galatasaray star's quality is beyond question.
Several major clubs throughout Europe are also credited with an interest including Serie A giants Internazionale and several clubs in the Spanish Primera Liga.
