The former Arsenal ace is looking for a new club after being handed a free transfer by The Sky Blues in a bid to ease their debts.
Bothroyd finished last season as Coventry's top scorer and his performances appear to have caught the attention of many clubs far across Europe.
Perugia have always shown their desire to sign players from far afield and they have been keeping tabs on Bothroyd.
The 21-year-old is currently training at the Stadio Renato Curi in the hope of winning a dream move to Serie A.
Perugia boss Serse Cosmi is looking at possible squad additions for next season and he cast an eye over Bothroyd in training before deciding whether or not to offer him a contract.
Meanwhile, Liverpool defender Stephen Warnock has completed his one-year loan move to The Sky Blues for the coming campaign.
