The Czech wide man's position is under threat following the high-profile arrival of Harry Kewell and speculation has been rife that Smicer would find himself on the sidelines.
However, despite handing over his number seven shirt to Kewell, the 30-year-old will be less accommodating with his place in the team.
"All summer, all I have read is that I won't be playing for Liverpool again," said Smicer.
"Any chance I get to prove people wrong, I intend to take.
"Of course, I did worry about who was coming in, there was a lot of talk about who Liverpool would sign, and that I wouldn't be playing or getting another chance.
"But all I can do is concentrate on my game.
"If the manager wants me, he will give me a chance.
"If not then I will have to look somewhere else, but my wish is to play at Liverpool."
The former Lens man scored twice in the pre-season win over Thailand on Thursday.
