Chris Kirkland was preferred in goal to the Polish custodian and newspaper reports suggested City manager Kevin Keegan was plotting a swoop when the transfer window reopens in January.
Reds boss Houllier quashed the rumours linking Dudek with a move to Manchester though, saying on the club's official website: "Jerzy Dudek is not for sale.
"If every time a player was dropped he was for sale, we would end up with about six players in our squad.
"We have just lost Steve Finnan to injury, with Jamie Carragher already out injured and Markus Babbel and Gregory Vignal out on loan. That should teach us a lesson."
Dudek was not the only goalkeeper story the Frenchman was commenting on after more press reports suggested Bosnia & Herzegovina shot stopper Kenan Hasagic could be on his way to Anfield.
"I've never even heard of him," was Houllier's less than encouraging response.
