The Reds are well off the pace set by Arsenal in The Premiership, with fourth spot their likely aim to resurrect something from a disappointing campaign.
Liverpool have, on paper, a good chance of securing a maximum-points haul from their festive fixture list as they face games with Wolves, Bolton and Manchester City and Kirkland is confident of a positive run.
He said: "If we pick up nine points, things will look a lot brighter going into the New Year.
"Beat Yeovil in The FA Cup and get a result against Chelsea and we'll have quickly turned our season around.
"This is a period of the season when the matches come along thick and fast.
"If we can pick up a load of points then it will stand us in good stead for the rest of the season.
"We're all focused on the game at Wolves and that's going to be a tough game, like they all are in The Premiership.
"They held Newcastle recently and should have beaten them so we will be taking nothing for granted.
"This is a game we cannot afford to lose. After what happened last weekend we're all determined to put on a performance and to come away from Molineux with the right result.
"We'll be in a confident frame of mind going into the game and I'm sure if we perform as we know we can then we should get the right result."
