Highly-distinguished French newspaper L'Equipe suggests that Liverpool are keen to bring the Paris Saint Germain ace back to The Premiership.
Mendy enjoyed a season-long loan spell at Bolton two seasons ago attracting the interest of a host of clubs with a number of impressive performances.
Bolton were keen on making his stay permanent, but could not agree a deal with PSG and Mendy returned to the capital outfit.
Mendy claimed last April that Liverpool were keen on acquiring his services last year, although nothing came of the interest.
The pacy full back has enjoyed a fine campaign with PSG this term and Reds boss Gerard Houllier is thought to have maintained an interest in his progress.
Houllier could be in the market for a new right back as last summer's signing Steve Finnan has failed to convince and the full back spot has become a somewhat problematic position for the Frenchman.
Mendy has just one-year to run on his contract at PSG and although the club are in talks over a new deal nothing as yet has been finalised.
The 22-year-old has always expressed his desire to break into the French national team and he could see a possible move to Anfield as the chance to boost his hopes of catching France coach Jacques Santini`s eye.
