The newly promoted outfit are determined to cement their place in France's top flight and have targeted a number of players from the Premier League.
Their close relationship with Arsenal has already led to them becoming interested in Gunners defender Pascal Cygan.
Les Verts now believe they can add young marksman Aliadiere to their squad on a loan deal for next term.
Aliadiere did make the breakthrough into Arsene Wenger's starting XI last season but his chances may be limited in the coming campaign, and they may believe that a loan season will do him good.
St Etienne have already brought Rennes striker Frederic Piquionne to Stade Geoffrey Guichard on loan for the season, but coach Elie Baup does not want to stop there.
The club are also interested in Liverpool misfit Salif Diao, as the African midfielder has failed to make a name for himself at Anfield.
Diao's Anfield team-mate Alou Diarra could also be spending another season away from Merseyside, with Lens interested in acquiring his services.
The 22-year-old spent last term on loan at Bastia and could be due for another season back in France if new Reds boss Rafael Benitez does not see him in his plans.
