The former Bolton loanee broke into the international set-up at the back end of last season and he is keen to become a part of Raymond Domenech's new-look France side.
Mendy believes that PSG can enjoy a successful season this term and he has also put himself forward to succeed former captain Frederic Dehu as the side's skipper for next season.
"We will try to achieve a beautiful run in the Champions League," Mendy told L'Equipe.
"We will try not to be ridiculous in Coupe de France and to win League Cup as the coach has never won it. And why not become champions?
"We will see during the season.
"Now one of my aims is to rejoin French team as soon as possible. It is my second aim.
"The first one is to remain a first-team member at PSG and confirm what I showed last season.
"The coach will decide who will be captain, now that Frederic Dehu has left.
"If he will name me, I could take on that responsibility.
"I am 22-years-old, a little young, but I already have the experience, although there are older players that could be captain."
Meanwhile, PSG coach Vahid Halilhodzic is drawing up his list of targets as he prepares for the new season.
The Bosnian tactician is looking to bolster his attacking options and is also keen to bring in a new midfielder.
Czech Republic pair Karel Poborsky and Vladimir Smicer are thought to be targets, but the duo's wage demands could kill PSG's interest.
PSG have also been offered Crvena Zvezda ace Nikola Zigic and Halilhodzic is thought to be a fan of the attacking midfielder.
Halilhodzic is also keeping an eye on Monaco's Pontus Farnerud, but they face competition from Espanyol and Sochaux for the player.
