Lyon are being linked with a whole host of strikers as they look to replace Giovane Elber in their attack.
The Brazilian is sidelined for some time with an ankle injury and l'OL are frantically searching for a suitable replacement before the end of the transfer window.
The French champions have already made an approach for Lens' John Utaka.
"It is true I called Lens chairman Gervais Martel and I made a proposition for Utaka," said Lyon chairman Jean-Michel Aulas.
"He refused it but he could still change his mind."
Free agent Sylvain Wiltord is another option although French sources claim Liverpool are favourites to land the ex-Arsenal forward.
"He is a player with experience and who won't cost anything in transfer fees," added Aulas.
"Moreover, he is perfectly fit.
"I know he has prepared at Rennes, we received some information, but we also like Bayern Munich's Claudio Pizarro a lot, but he is actually injured."
Wiltord, who has been training with Rennes to keep fit, is also rumoured to be a target for Manchester United and Juventus but Liverpool appear to be in the driving seat.
Javier Saviola of Barcelona, Aruna Dindane of Anderlecht and Brazilian Nilmar remain other candidates for Lyon as the French authorities have allowed l'OL special dispensation to sign a fifth non-European player.
