Liverpool's Rafa Benitez has insisted that Milan Baros and Djibril Cisse can play together.Liverpool manager Rafa Benitez has insisted that Milan Baros and Djibril Cisse can play together.
Baros and Cisse both featured in the 2-0 win against Charlton Athletic, but neither could find the scoresheet despite having numerous chances.
Benitez has responded to claims that the Czech and French strikers are not capable of playing with each other.
"As coach, I am happy," said Benitez.
"We train and practice to make sure we have the opportunities.
"If you saw the game [Charlton], you can say they cannot play together, but we would not have had the opportunities, we have seen the opportunities because they player together.
"We now need to increase the penetration between them."
Meanwhile, Benitez has confirmed that youngsters Darren Potter, Zak Whitbread and Stephen Warnock will be given a chance to play against Millwall in the Carling Cup on Tuesday.
"We have a good squad and when you see the amount of competitions you must play in each season, I want to use young players at some stage even though I must insist that we always want to win every match," said Benitez.
"But there is now an opportunity for some of the younger lads to play in the first team. I have decided to use all the squad, it is something I did at Valencia.
"I used all the players during the season and then when you arrive at the end of the season, everybody is in a good physical condition for the final matches.
"I have the same idea here. You cannot progress in all the competitions if you do not give everybody games. A tie like this will give the younger players more experience."
