Espanyol say Liverpool have not contacted them about Jonathan Soriano.Espanyol have told skysports.com that they have had no contact with Liverpool over striking starlet Jonathan Soriano.
Jonathan - as he is known in Spain - is an Under-21 international and is rated very highly.
The 19-year-old turned down the advances of both Real Madrid and Barcelona earlier in his career to prolong his stay with Espanyol.
Now Rafa Benitez is understood to be monitoring the young forward's situation.
However, Espanyol are not in any mood to listen to offers for one of their prized assets.
"Officially Liverpool has not spoken with us," Espanyol's director of sport Cristobal Parralo told skysports.com.
"We have only heard rumours in the press, but the situation does not preoccupy us as the player has a long contract with us."
Other Espanyol stars such as Albert Lopo and Carlos Kameni are being tracked by Premiership clubs, but Parralo insists they will not discuss anything until the summer.
"In the last few weeks several players of Espanyol have been in the newspapers suggesting there is interest from English clubs, but we will not study any of these subjects until the end of the season," he added.
"Today our first objective is to remain calm and win a place in Europe for next season."
