Swindon Town defender Andy Nicholas and former Hull City wing back Carl Regan are currently training with the League Two club - with a view to signing with the Cheshire outfit this week.
Nicholas (pictured) is a former Liverpool trainee who has struggled to make an impact at The County Ground this season.
His pre-season was disrupted by a knee cartilage operation back in the summer and the 21-year-old will hope his trial at Chester can earn him some first team action.
Regan is a former Everton and Barnsley player who joined Conference North club Droylsden in March 2004.
"We need to liven things up in our playing squad and these two players bring with them experience that will hopefully pep up the existing squad," Chester chairman Stephen Vaughan told the Daily Post.
"They both bring Football League experience with them, which will be of great benefit to us."
Chester also looking to extend the loan of Liverpool midfielder Robbie Foy, who joined The Blues on a four-week deal last month.
Meanwhile, Chester striker Robbie Booth and attacking midfielder Michael Walsh have finalised their contracts with the club.
