John Welsh is ready to wait for his chance to make his name at Liverpool.Liverpool youngster John Welsh is ready to wait for his chance to make his name at Anfield.
The midfielder is highly-rated within the corridors of Anfield after coming through the youth ranks.
Welsh is enjoying his football at present, having made his UEFA Champions League debut against Bayer Leverkusen and scoring his first goal for England Under-21's against Azerbaijan on Tuesday.
The 21-year-old is determined to establish himself in Rafa Benitez's first team plans and prove he is good enough.
"I'm at one of the best clubs in the world. I've always supported them and I love the club," said Welsh.
"So I'll be patient. I know there's a lot of good players there, but the gaffer has shown he'll put the young kids in, if they deserve it.
"The gaffer keeps talking to me, telling me what I should be doing, so I listen to him and take it from there.
"You need first team football as you go along, but Rafa Benitez wants me to stay at Liverpool. I love the club and want to make it there.
"The staff at the club feel I should score more goals and that's an area I'm looking to improve.
"My strengths include my tackling and hopefully my passing, but there's lots I can improve upon. I'm only young and I know I'm not the finished article."
