Sunderland have signed Liverpool's Anthony Le Tallec on a season-long loan deal.Sunderland have launched another raid on Merseyside, following the signing of Alan Stubbs by securing the services of Liverpool starlet Anthony Le Tallec on a season-long loan deal.
The French forward has struggled to impose himself at Anfield ever since moving to The Reds from Le Havre in 2002 and will now look to reignite his Premiership career under the guidance of Mick McCarthy.
The 22-year-old spent the second half of last season on loan with St Etienne and had started this term encouragingly after featuring in both legs of the UEFA Champions League qualifiers against TNS.
However, with Fernando Morientes, Djibril Cisse and new signing Peter Crouch in front of him in Rafa Benitez's plans, Le Tallec will now look to prove his abilities at The Stadium of Light.
"I chose to come to Sunderland because I need to play games," Le Tallec told the club's official website.
"At Liverpool it is very difficult to play every week, the coach told me that.
"I don't know too much about Sunderland but I see it as a big club and a big challenge.
"I spoke to Mick McCarthy about the club and had a good feeling straight away.
"I'm a competitor and want to play games, I'm looking forward to playing in The Premiership with Sunderland."
Le Tallec will add yet more depth to the Sunderland attack after McCarthy strengthened his squad with the signings of Jon Stead and Daryl Murphy following promotion from The Championship.
