Monaco fear Villa bid

Monaco fear Aston Villa will out-bid them for Liverpool striker Milan Baros.

Monaco fear Aston Villa are leading the race to sign Liverpool's unsettled striker Milan Baros.

The Principality outfit are very keen to sign the Czech Republic international but fear they will lose a bidding war with Premiership clubs.

Everton and West Ham are also interested in Baros but sources claim Villa are in prime position to agree a deal with Liverpool.

The offer from Monaco is believed to be in the region of ‚é¼8.5 million (around £5.9 million) while David O'Leary is said to be prepared to splash out up to ‚é¼10 million (around £7 million) for the Euro 2004 hero.

Meanwhile, ASM coach Didier Deschamps admits he is disappointed to lose captain Julien Rodriguez to Rangers.

The deal was secured ahead of the latest UEFA Champions League deadline on Thursday but Deschamps is unhappy with his skipper's decision to head for Ibrox.

"His departure does not come at the best moment," stated Deschamps. "But when a player doesn't want to hear anything and doesn't want to play.

"There was that important financial opportunity at this moment of his career and he will find his friend Dado Prso again.

"The players think about this and it is logical."
